Sweden -- IASPIS in Stockholm

IASPIS is, primarily, an artist-in-residence program based in Stockholm and a government funded institution supporting Swedish artists exhibiting abroad. The main purpose of IASPIS is to facilitate creative dialogues and collaborations between artists from Sweden and from other countries. Both recently graduated and more established Swedish artists could apply for specific projects to be realized in our studios in the building of the Royal Academy of Fine Art in Stockholm. Artists from abroad are invited by IASPIS for periods of two to six months, sometimes in connection with exhibitions or other projects in Sweden. The program is based around our ten studios in Stockholm, but we also have studios in the cities of Gothenburg, Malmö, and Umeå.

IASPIS could be described as a force field, a place that generates art and thoughts about art through studio residencies, exhibitions, seminars, discussions, and publications. We who work at IASPIS wish that the operation would contribute to an exchange both in a local and in a wider context. An exchange that all kinds off directions and that constantly finds new road-turns and contact surfaces that will open up for change, influences and new knowledge.

Confirmation for the Nordic AiR residencies at IASPIS in 2006 will come in mid-May 2005. Residencies will, with most probability, be available during the period January-December 2006.

Apart from one of the IASPIS studios, the artists have continuous access to computer equipment and to the workshops of the Academy of Fine Arts and CRAC (Creative Room for Art and Computing). Separate accommodation is organised a ten-minute walk away from IASPIS, at the Art Hotel, Johannesgatan 12, SE - 111 38 Stockholm.
