Albania -- Lindart in Tirana

Residency available for 2 months during August-December 2005


Accommodation and facilities:
The accommodation of the artists will be in a little villa near the Cultural Center Lindart. It is a little new hotel, very nice and in a quite place, even it is very near the center of the city. Also there is a little kitchen in the studio.


Residency period: the best period for an artist-in-residency program in Tirana may be September – November. The time is warm and nice, the city is full of people and students, and there are different artistic activities.


Short description of the residency:
The studio is situated in the area of the cultural center Lindart, very near the hotel room. There are two floors, each about 100 square. In the first floor is situated a dark room for black and white photographs, very well equipped. The artist can develop films and stamp photographs until size of 70x100 cm.
The studio has access to telephone & fax, Internet. Also if someone is interested to work with video, there are two monitors TV and video, 5 computers and they can have the support of two specialised persons who work with 3D programs, and preparing of video projects.
During this period the artist can work in the medium s/he prefer: traditional media,. Video, photography. A young Albanian artist can help in dark room process. During this period s/he would be prepared to two contact/conferences with Albanian artist and share ideas and experience about her/his activity and project in process. At the end of the residency it will be an exhibition at the Cultural center Lindart, and a press conference, as it will be the first international residency program an Albanian art institution participate. The activity will be on our web site ( it is not yet completed, we are working on it).

S/he can use the weekends for visiting different cities in Albania, to know the country, people and the history of the country. During these trips s/he can use buses or train. The cities to visit: Durres (a 3000 years old city near the Adriatic sea), Kruja (with a historical and ethnographic museum and a nice old bazaar), Shkodra (there is an important photo archive of 80 000 negatives, of a family of photographers, called Marubi) and Tirana: National Art Gallery, Archaeological Museum, Historical Museum, Opera, Theater, Academy of Fine Art’s Gallery, etc.;
