Accommodation is organised in an artist flat in the city centre. The cultural centre “Vyhod” offers working facilities and practical assistance.
“Vyhod” is a gathering place for new culture in the Republic of Karelia, Russia. The centre has an exhibition space for experimental art and is the leading organization within the field of innovative projects in Petrozavodsk. Besides exhibitions, “Vyhod” organizes a wide range of seminars, artist meetings and press conferences. “Vyhod” is also highly involved in computer design and making audio-, video- and multimedia art and presentations. The centre is equipped with fast computers and Internet connection.
Petrozavodsk, the capital of Karelia, lies on the shore of the Onega Lake, 450 km from St. Petersburg. Peter the Great gave rise to the city by building a gun factory there in 1703. Its first Governor was the outstanding Russian poet Gavriil Derzhavin. This city has 280.000 inhabitants and is the cultural centre of the Karelian republic.
The island of Kizhi, a one and a half hour trip by boat from the city, is a unique open-air museum of Russian wooden architecture.
