Brief characteristic of my work:
Most of my work derives from an interest in conditions for producing and reflecting around an art production, in the same sense as production of meaning takes shape inside socio-political structures.
In the process of producing objects, no element is left out of the framework that surrounds the production. This means that one element often relate to another, even though they operate in different places and are different products. Still the crucial question asked is what function they have in this particular system.
The works are often executed in easy- to- handle materials such as cardboard, wood or posters, creating an even stronger emphasis on the contextual framework. An object, be it image or sculpture, are never viewed singular, as there is always a before and after.
Apart from this interest in production and context, I often import themes and problems from factual sources such as architecture, historic circumstances or textual work. The ideas then brought forward are produced in a rather pragmatic manner, still leaving room for interpretation and (mis)understanding.
During the residency at Sveaborg, I worked with two new sculptures taking a historical and arthistorical point of departure in the biblical story of The Tower Of Babel. Which in the sixties was reissued as a title for a utopic city designed by Constant Nieuwenhuys. The two sculptures deals with language and meassurements. I also prepared several text-pieces and posters for an upcoming exhibition.
