“Errol Nordstedt alias Eddie Meduza”

In this documentary I have investigated how an image or a kind of theatrical role figure can take over a persons life. Form been some kind of a mask that you can put on and take of as you please, you might get caught up in this character. This is what happened to the strange, Swedish figure Errol Nordstedt, alias Eddie Meduza. I have digged into an extreme role character, and through this investigation wanted to look for reasons for why his career ended up like it did. What motivated and gave the premises to act out a vulgar character, and what motivated Nordstedt to communicate in a very vulgar language?
In contrast to the awful Swedish musician Eddie Meduza, who everybody in Sweden know (in a very negative way), I wanted to present him in private, as Errol Nordstedt, as a sympathic and on everyday matter a well reflected person.
It is this consciousness about a double identity I find interesting whit Meduza/Nordstedt.
The documentary work as a portrait, considering the fact that Errol Nordstedt died in the middle of our process in making the documentary. I have tried not make this a romantic story, I rather try to discover and investigate a sort of realism that he represented. A kind of realism that mean something to his fans, whatever that might be.

The video is based on interviews whit Errol Nordstedt, his former wife, his colleagues and recordings of his concerts. After he died I have made interviews whit his friends, colleagues and girlfriend. For the last part of the video material I used is his own video production, which distributed to his fans.

Eddie Meduza is called the Swedish “cruiser king”. Few musicians like him have been the object as much criticism, derision and disdain. The message in his songs was about alcohol, sex, women and sometimes critique of the society.
He was found dead at 53 in his house in southern Småland in Sweden on January 17.th 2002. The cause of death given was heart failure caused by high alcohol consumption and life in the hard and fast lane.
