http://ionic.nifca.org is an entirely new concept for viewing art in a digital age. The influence of the digital may be felt in artistic practice in ways as diverse as the editing of a 35mm film all the way up to the creation of a real time 3D interactive artwork.

As artists and architects increasingly use digital technology to produce their work, this unique project brings together cutting edge art, architecture and games development technology. ionic.nifca.org - the electronic arm of Nordic Institute for Contemporary Art (NIFCA) - is a deliberate move away from the two-dimensional properties of net art, towards a three-dimensional interactive architectural environment. Created in collaboration with OCEANNORTH ionic.nifca.org prioritises the experience of viewing art through the computer interface, creating a new relationship between art and its hosting digital environment.
