Having experienced both artistic and political censorship during his career, this book is the first to document Sture Johannesson's posters and pioneering digital art, as well as his affiliations with the "high" underground and the punk movement.

In the 1960s, the Scandinavian artist Sture Johannesson (1935) created a psychedelic style in a way quite different from the amorphous blobs of mainstream psychedelia. Innovative for their time and drawing on all cultural influences of their day, his densely coded posters provide a rare example of the interlacing of counter-cultural resistance and aesthetic form.
