Social Perspectives on Architecture and Design

Edited by Markus Degerman

The publication debates the value of social perspectives on architecture and design. The focus is on the importance of exchange in between practitioners within these fields and the visual arts, as well as on an intellectual approach and on social and cultural knowledge. The contributions serve as a statement in the increasingly urgent discussion on the value of cultural production with an explorative, experimental, discursive or critical orientation. This publication is a part of NIFCA’s project Social Perspectives on Architecture and Design carried out during 2006, including a residency program, seminar and platform for professionals in the Nordic countries working on the boundary of art/design and art/architecture.

Contributors include: Martin Braathen, Markus Degerman, Tone Hansen, Helena Mattsson, and texts by program participants.
