Self-Organisation/ Countereconomic Strategies

Self-Organisation/ Countereconomic Strategies

Edited by Will Bradley, Mika Hannula, Cristina Ricupero, Superflex

A collection of essays that takes a critical but constructive look at the concept of self-organisation, particularly as applied in recent years to the creation of counter-strategies that offer alternatives to classical capitalist economic organisation. Ten writers from different fields will be invited to comment on and analyse this theme with respect to particular examples or situations. The book has been initiated by the artists group Superflex (www.superflex.net) but the book is not about them. It is about the many approaches to and interpretations of self-organisation, and the practical and theoretical implications, consequences and possibilities of self-organised structures. In particular, it is about the creation, dissemination and maintenance of alternative, “bottom-up” models for social or economic organisation.

Essay contributions by Simon Anholt, Will Bradley, Bruno Camparato and Marjetica Potrc, Anupam Chander & Madhavi Sunder, Mika Hannula, Alfonso Hernandez, Susan Kelly, Lawrence Lessig, Tere Vadén. Projects by Superflex such as Copyshop, Tenantspin, Free Beer, Guaraná Power, Free Shop and numerous examples by third part.
