Eligibility
NIFCA, Nordic Institute for Contemporary Art focuses its core activities on the Nordic region, and the artist-in-residency programs are usually open for applications only from professional visual artists based in the Nordic countries:
Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden
including the autonomous territories, Faroe Islands, Greenland, Åland Islands
Also other prioritized collaboration areas can be included, which can vary from year to year.
Unfortunately NIFCA does not have the possibility to organize open calls for applications worldwide. Artists from other parts of the world can participate only upon invitation from NIFCA. This usually happens in connection with specific NIFCA projects the artists are participating in.
Please, see NIFCA's website from time to time for upcoming new residency programs and their deadlines.
Many of the residency hosts that NIFCA collaborates with also run their own residency programs. It may be good to contact them directly and ask for possibilities provided by them.
NIFCA's Research Residency program is open for international applications.
