Residency Programs 1997-2006

NIFCA's residency programs aimed at supporting artistic work across the Nordic region and beyond, increasing contacts and dialogues between regions, and initiating new work and collaboration.

The programs provided artists, based in the Nordic region and beyond, with the opportunity to live and work for periods of
1-6 months at a multitude of locations throughout the world. There was also a Research Residency program for curators, critics, writers and researchers.

NIFCA’s main program was the annual Nordic & Baltic Residency Network/Nordic AiR for visual artists based in the Nordic and Baltic regions. Since c. 2001-2002, there were each year also one or several thematic programs, some of which followed political focuses of the Nordic Council of Ministers, which could be either thematic or geographical.

Annually, NIFCA collaborated, on an average, with 15-30 residency hosts and provided residencies for 60-90 art workers.
