Shanghai Duolun Museum of Modern Art
Shanghai Duolun Museum of Modern Art is a multi-functional and non-profit institution of culture and art, providing services to the development of Chinese contemporary art and a platform for the international exchange of contemporary art. It takes originality, academic and internationalism as its guideline, and inheriting historical culture, renovating contemporary art as its aim. Being the first professional modern museum of contemporary art in China, Duolun Museum of Modern Art seeks to exhibit the creative achievements of modern art, promote the culture and art exchange between China and foreign countries, go in for the academic research on contemporary art, popularize the education of modern art and thus to fulfill the five major functions of exhibition, research, education, collection and communication.
Duolun Road was once the place where a lot of famous cultural figures in Chinese history, such as Lu Xun, created their literary and art works. Now the establishment of Duolun Museum of Modern Art will regain the cultural vitality of this renowned road with the fresh modern idea and contribute to the lasting of cultural prosperity. With farsighted vision, open attitude and progressive strategy, the museum aims to play an important role in the development of Chinese modern art and make a due contribution to the development of contemporary art in the world.
Shanghai Duolun Museum of Art is the first and for now the only Museum of Modern Art in main land China. With a clear mission supporting the contemporary art and artists, Duolun Museum established artists workshops. The workshop will work on international basis bringing Chinese and foreign artists together to work on certain project proposed by artists themselves.
Shanghai Duolun MoMA workshop is intended to foster personal vision by helping working professional artists at all stages of their career, especially helping young artists all around the world to gain confidence and experience working in new environment with other artists.
This residences help artists from different cultural backgrounds to work and create together and show their work to Chinese public. If the project is successfully accomplished Shanghai Duolun Museum of Modern Art is willing to negotiate with artists in order to organize exhibition in Duolun Museum. Shanghai Duolun Museum of Modern Art provides artists with studio and guest apartment for two to six months. The residency is supported by Zendai Musem of Modern Art: www.zendaiart.com
