Faroe Islands -- Fuglafjørdur

The Studio House in Fuglafjørdur is in a merchant's old stone house from 1887, which has been restored in a little old fashioned and very cosy way. The house is fully equipped with all that is necessary for living. The artist only has to bring with them their personal and artistic equipment. In the house you will find downstairs a kitchen, a toilet/bath, a sleeping room, a dining room and a sitting room, which also can be used as workingrooms/studios. Upstairs you will find 4 more sleeping rooms and a working room. It is also possible to use the neighboring store building, which today is used as the local art gallery, and meeting place for local artists.

Fuglafjørdur is one of the bigger villages in the Faroes. Here live about 1 600 inhabitants. The place was founded before the year 1000, and remnants from an old farmhouse from c. 950 has been found. Today the township of Fuglafjørdur has most of the facilities, you will find in a modern society of this size today.

Nordic Air residencies are available during the period March-October, December.

The residency program is a collaboration between NIFCA and Mentamálastýrid (The Cultural Ministry of the Faroe Islands).
