Macedonia -- Museum of the City - Open Graphic Art Studio in Skopje

Museum of the City - Open Graphic Art Studio, Skopje

The studio is a space of 60 m2 attached to the Gallery of the Open Graphic Art Studio. It has silkscreen lab and a printing press.

The residency is imagined as a part of the annual programme of the Open Graphic Art Studio that consists of exhibitions, workshops, lectures and until now residencies for local artists. The open Graphic Art Studio was established in 1997 and since then has hosted about 70 various local and international events. The day 3 international conference Capital and Gender has been the most important event hosted by the Studio now with participation of 15 artists and art theorists from the region.

At the end of the Skopje residency the artist will be invited to have an exhibition in the Gallery (60m2). An extensive cooperation with the curator of the Gallery is offered for the completion of the exhibition and for the duration of the residency.

The Gallery and the Studio are part of the programme and the building of the Museum of the City of Skopje in the centre of Skopje. In fact it is the building of the ex-railway station that was half destroyed by the catastrophic earthquake in 1963 but with a separate entrance so that the artist will have continuous access and can work long hours.

Residency available for 2 months during 1 October – 1 December 2004.
