Taiwan -- Taipei Artist Village in Taipei

TAIPEI ARTIST VILLAGE (TAIWAN)

The Taipei Artist Village (TAV), officially opened in October 2001, provides an artist-led space where pioneering artists in all disciplines (visual, literary, musical, film/video/photography, performing and interdisciplinary) from throughout Taiwan and the world are brought together. This center for innovation, exploration and inspiration in the heart of Taipei city houses an office, ten live-in studios, two public rooms and a seminar room in a four-story structure with two gardens and various facilities for the artists' use.

Since 2001, the Taipei Artist Village has run an International Artist-in-Residence Exchange Program, where local and international artists could be brought together by participating in a reciprocal exchange of artist residencies with more than fifteen arts organizations in countries including Australia, China, France, Holland, Honduras, India, Israel, Malaysia, South Korea, the Republic of the Philippines, the United Kingdom, and Vietnam.

The International Artist-in-Residence exchange with NIFCA is co-sponsored by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of Taipei. A residency includes studio space with accommodation, per diem expenses ($35 per day of residence), roundtrip airfares (max $1,400), and artist materials for the duration of the residency ($600 per month).

In exchange, one media artist from Taiwan will undertake a residency at NIFCA in Suomenlinna (Helsinki, Finland) in autumn 2002.
