Where Did They Disappear?
Director: Kristine Briede (LT)
Genre: Documentary
Latvia, 2001 / 7 min (DV), b/w & sound
The Film
The film is inspired by old photos that were found by the author, walking the steps of the abandoned block houses of Karosta (Warharbour). It is a former military base that ended its existence, as such, back in 1994, when the Soviet troops left Latvia. Huge skeletons with blind, black window eyes, stairs without handrails, rooms without floors
all empty. People have taken everything, but left traces that tell their stories.
