Lebanon, Beirut: Espace SD

Espace SD is a cultural space dedicated to modern and contemporary art. Situated in the center of Beirut Espace SD is a unique address in the city, serving as a platform to encourage an internal dialogue between local artists and the public. On three floors covering 1000 square meters, we present various exhibits, events, film screenings, conferences and concerts.

The ground floor is an exhibition space, which hosts monthly exhibits presenting a Lebanese or a foreign artist working with different media.
The "Laboratoire", also on the ground floor, is an experimental space primarily for installations with the aim of promoting more conceptual works of art. The second floor is a permanent showcase for Lebanese designers

Another exhibition space on the third floor is reserved for special exhibitions and events as well as the permanent collection presenting works by artists whom have previously exhibited or collaborated with Espace SD.

Espace SD is looking for artists who are interested in themes pertinent to the local community as well as to the region and who wish to collaborate with a network of local artists to possibly create an event that would take place in Espace SD during the period of the residency.

Global Perspectives residency is available for one artist for two months either during the periods March-June or September-October 2006.


During the residency the artist will be housed in a studio appartment that is easily accessible to Espace SD.
